On June 27th, 2017 Dr. Joe found our that all of his previous heart operations were failing and had to be replaced.
The surgeons and Joe decided to attempt a new procedure of which Joe would be the 29th individual in the world to receive. The procedure went well but there was damage to his lungs making it impossible for Joe to breathe on his own.
He was placed in a chemically induced coma for 11 days during which time his heart stopped twice and different nerve damages to his motor skills and communication abilities were effected.
When all is said and done Dr. Joe will be 25-30,000 dollars out of pocket in order to survive and heal.
